Watch a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV Take a Plunge in a Lake

A Chevrolet Tahoe driver watched his full-size SUV that was pulling a trailer with a boat dip into a lake not once but twice! A bystander began filming the incident when the owner of the Tahoe was sitting on the vehicle's roof waiting for help, which arrived shortly after when another driver tossed a…ski rope and tow strap.
After connecting the rope and strap on the Chevy, the other vehicle began to haul in the Tahoe. The whole process seemed to be going well until the rope and strap broke off sending the Tahoe back into the lake for a second time.
YouTube user Gotyourgear said of the incident:
"Chevy Tahoe goes into lake. The audio says the car was left in reverse. That was said on the spot before I knew the details. Tahoe owner said the truck was in park. Video starts with the Tahoe coming out the first time.
A nice passerby hooks up a ski rope and a tow strap to pull him out. As soon as it is pulled out the rope breaks and it goes right back in as seen at 1:10 in the video. It made for a crappy day for this fellow and his wife.
Thank goodness the family wasn't in the car and nobody was seriously hurt. The guy who owns the Tahoe was treated for hypothermia. The Chevy Tahoe was totalled, as you can guess. Be careful out there."
Evidently, you can find many things wrong about this incident including that the driver should have opened the Tahoe's doors to let out the water as soon as he touched land, but perhaps the most important thing to note is the fact that we saw several people standing right beside the rope and tow strap – which is a very big no-no for safety reasons.

This Accident Could Have Ended Much Worse

Watching a large truck tip over while negotiating a curve on the road and then seeing it coming towards your way without you being able to react is an experience that no driver would like to face. That said, this driver should feel extremely fortunate that the only thing damaged in the incident you are about to view in the video below is the front end of his car...

How to Turn a Lexus LS 400 into a Convertible

Reinforced A-pillars and pyrotechnically charged roll hoops are obviously not on the menu for this second-generation Lexus LS 400 Cabriolet, which was created in a matter of minutes during a DIY coachbuilding lesson at the 2012 StanceWars event in Belgium this past weekend. Ferrari 458 Italia Flips Twice in the Air

There is a reason why many consider the notorious corkscrew at the Laguna Seca raceway both fantastic and scary at the same time. If you want to know about the scary part, then you should take a look at what happened during the 2012 Ferrari Racing Days this past weekend.
While tackling the corkscrew, one of the drivers came in way faster than he should of and the 458 Challenge just continued on straight. Due to the car's momentum, the gravel and tires did not stop the Italian racer, which was flung into the air like a toy before it landed on its roof. A very scary incident indeed.
Fortunately, the driver walked away from the crash shaken but not hurt.
You can view the accident from various angles in the videos below.

Child Opens Door and Falls on the Road, see what's happen next

Even if you do not leave a child alone in the car as this Boston woman did, there is still a possibility that a kid might misbehave and get into trouble, like this youngster did after he or she somehow opened the door of a moving minivan and fell on the road in China. The security camera footage shows a woman, possibly the child's mother, unsuccessfully reaching out to catch the kid as it opens the door. The child falls down but the mother swiftly jumps out of the moving vehicle leaving the car to drive on by itself.
Happy that she could save the kid from the oncoming traffic, the woman doesn't care about the fate of the car and even returns back to pick up something that the child dropped down. The video awaits for you after the break.

Kia Elan Roadster is a Lotus for the Masses

Back in the late 1980s, two automakers with very different values and historical backgrounds each set out to build a roadster model for mainstream enthusiasts. The two brands were Mazda with its MX-5, also known as Miata in North America and Eunos Roadster in Japan, and Lotus, then owned by General Motors, with the Elan M100. Both two-seater models were presented in 1989, but only one managed to become a phenomenal sales success, and that was the MX-5.
Ironically, Mazda's goal was to create a direct descendant of the original Lotus Elan from the 1960s, with a nostalgic feel in terms of styling, lightweight philosophy and rear-wheel drive setup, adapted of course, to the times.
On the other hand, the British automaker purposely designed a futuristic successor that maintained the handling and nimbleness of the original Elan, but instead of RWD, opted for a FWD layout, the first and last time Lotus tried it on a production model.
Even though the modern Elan was praised for its handling and forward looking styling, it ultimately fell victim to its high price having to compete with the cheaper and more reliable MX-5, and the fact that it was not as entertaining on the road as a rear-wheel driven model.
The Lotus Elan remained in production from 1989 to 1995 being offered with a choice of two modified 1.6-liter four-cylinder engines sourced from Isuzu, which was then also controlled by GM. The base, naturally aspirated version produced 130hp (132PS), while the Lotus-developed turbo variant was good for 162hp (164PS).
After ending production of the Elan in 1995, Lotus sold the car's rights to Kia Motors, which at the time, was an independently run automaker. Kia built the Elan in South Korea for three years from 1996 until 1999 (in 1997, Kia went bankrupt with Hyundai stepping in to take a controlling stake of 51 percent in the company the following year).
Visually, Kia's version of the Elan, was almost identical to the original Lotus model sans some negligible differences such as the badges, the goofy looking tail lamps and some interior parts such as the steering wheel, gear shifter knob and instrument panel graphics.
The most important modification to the design, however, was the replacement of the original Elan's 1.6-liter engine with one of Kia's own motors, a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 152hp (154PS).
Needless to say, the Kia flavored Elan is a much rarer automobile than the original Lotus model, but we did manage to find two examples up for sale in Germany.
The first one, featured in a black finish, has covered 75,000km (46,600 miles) and is priced at €7,700 (US$10,170), while the yellow colored model with 65,000km (40,400 miles) could be yours for €9,600 (US$12,700).

Audi R8 Drifts, Smashes Into Lada Rolling it Over, then Runs Away

There seems to be no end in sight to the crazy stories from the wild, wild East that is Russia's roads. Today, one of our readers tipped us off about this footage showing an Audi R8 making a very quick U-turn on a central road, somewhere in Russia. For a couple of seconds, all seems to be going well but as the German sports car enters the straight it smashes onto the side of what looks like an older Lada Samara, knocking the Russian sedan over.
While we see people running to help the driver of the green sedan, the R8 coupe makes a run for it passing a red light in the process.
We should note that some commentators on YouTube are having doubts about the authenticity of the video, especially since the person filming it seemed unfazed - if you speak the language, we would appreciate it if you could help with the translation of what is being said in the clip.
You can weigh in your thoughts after watching the incident in the video that follows after the break.
