Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno Pitch for Acura's NSX Super Bowl Commercial

The Honda group isn't playing games with its Super Bowl spots this year, that's for sure. After recruiting Matthew Broderick to reprise his role as Ferris Bueller in the 2012 Honda CR-X ad, the Japanese firm's premium brand Acura has hired its own stars for its first ever Super Bowl appearance. The new Acura spot for the upcoming NSX features comedian Jerry Seinfeld with Tonight Show host Jay Leno making a special appearance towards the end of the commercial, the extended version of which you can see right after the break.
The ad shows Jerry Seinfeld going to extremes to be able to be the first one in line to buy the Acura NSX hybrid sports car (seen here in concept guise) that's scheduled to go on sale in 2015, only to be beaten in the end by Leno.

New Acura NSX Concept Meets Old in Gran Turismo 5 Video

Now that was pretty fast. The creators of Sony's wildly successful Gran Turismo racing game series have released a new video that brings to life both the brand-new Acura NSX Concept that was revealed just the other day at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show and the original model, which was marketed under the Honda brand name outside North America. It's only natural to assume that the NSX Concept will eventually find its way into the digitalized garage of the GT5 down the road.
The new NSX brings a new hybrid powerplant that combines a naturally aspirated V6 engine with three electric motors, two of which are assigned to the front wheels.

New Acura / Honda NSX Sports Hybrid Concept that will Enter Production by 2015

Acura has just introduced the NSX Concept at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit and these are the first official photos. The Japanese automaker has shown several concept models over the years for a replacement to the iconic Honda / Acura NSX that was built from 1990 until 2005, but for one reason or the other, none of them managed to reach the production phase
This time, however, Acura says the NSX Concept is the real deal with the production model to debut within the next three years. Interestingly, Acura says that it will developed by an engineering team led by Honda R&D Americas, and manufactured in Ohio, at a yet to be named facility.
Like the original model, the NSX features a mid-mounted naturally aspirated V6 engine but with a twist; Acura's engineers added the firm's Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) hybrid system that utilizes three electric motors.
The next VTEC V6 engine comes with direct-injection and is linked to a dual clutch transmission with built-in electric motor. In addition, two-motor electric-drive unit can provide torque to the front wheels during cornering to improve handling.
"This Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system will make NSX the ultimate expression of Acura's idea to create synergy between man and machine," said Takanobu Ito, president and CEO of Honda Motor. "The NSX will make the driver one with the car to enhance dynamic driving abilities without getting in the way."
"Like the first NSX, we will again express high performance through engineering efficiency," added Ito, who led the development of Acura's first NSX supercar. "In this new era, even as we focus on the fun to drive spirit of the NSX, I think a supercar must respond positively to environmental responsibilities."
The new NSX also employs lightweight materials while its styling doesn't bear many similarities to the original model.

New Honda NSX to Debut at North American International Auto Show in Detroit

Honda is bringing its famous NSX sports car back to life, only this time it will be packaged as a 400bhp hybrid model and will be sporting a unique powertrain system.
The NSX will be driven by a 3.5L V6 gasoline engine which will be strictly devoted to driving the front axle of the vehicle. The rear wheels will be powered by two in wheel electric motors that operate independently of each other. This independent electric motor setup makes the car capable of delivering different power levels to the inside and outside wheels while cornering and maneuvering to add responsiveness and tighter handling.
Honda debuted this electric SH-AWD setup in late November but never announced officially when the system would see production or in what vehicle it would make its debut. The original SH-AWD system was paired with a new dual clutch seven speed automatic transmission which may or may not find its way into the NSX.
Representatives at Honda say that the primary focus of the system is to reduce fuel economy while keeping power and handling intact.
In terms of looks, we have already seen spy photos from the set of the new Avengers movie(Pictured Above), so we can only assume the finished product will be heavily influenced by that early model. The NSX will bow at the Detroit auto show badged as an Acura, but will be re-branded as a Honda when it hits the streets in the UK.

New Honda NSX Concept Reportedly Coming to Detroit Show

When Honda CEO Takanobu Ito confirmed the NSX replacement, it made sense that the new sports car would be revealed at the Japanese company's home turf. However, Honda displayed the compact EV-STER concept instead, a small RWD roadster that resembles the 1990’s Beat.
There’s no reason for disappointment though as British publication Autocar is reporting that Honda plans to debut a new concept called 'Super Sports' at the Detroit Motor Show in mid-January.

According to Yoshikazu Kigoshi, Honda’s general manager for research and design center, the Super Sports study is described as “a halo model that will be a successor to the NSX.” Kigoshi added that the production version of the concept would be sold under the Acura brand in North America and as a Honda in the rest of the world.
The three concepts that are currently on display at the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show may have already given us a glimpse to the new NSX’s front design. That’s because Honda’s creative director, Toshinubu Minami, who is also responsible for the Super Sports concept design, admitted that the Detroit concept “will wear the same Honda face as the Tokyo models, because of course there must be consistency, but they won’t be the same.”
The Super Sports will most likely by powered by a new, top-of-the-line hybrid propulsion system that is part of Honda's “Earth Dreams Technology” plan unveiled yesterday during the Tokyo Motor Show.
According to Honda's official announcement, the so-called "high output electric SH-AWD hybrid system" combines a new direct-injection 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine with a built-in, 30kW (40HP) electric motor, two independent 20kW (27HP) electric motors on both sides for the rear wheels, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a high performance lithium-ion battery.
Honda says that this is a newly developed version of its acclaimed SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive) system which adjusts torque distribution not only between the front and rear axle, but also between the rear wheels.
It also claims that it will provide “incredible tight cornering, just like driving on rails”, while at the same time improving overall consumption by 10% and total output by 5%.
