New Alfa Romeo C12 GTS Concept

While not a household name yet, Ugur Sahin, a Turkish car designer based in the Netherlands, will ring a bell for many of our regular readers who will remember him from past projects such as the 2007 Ferrari Dino, 2010 Aston Martin Gauntlet and more recently, the 2011 Soleil Anadi. The latter is of particular interest as it's the production version of Sahin's 2007 Chevrolet Corvette Z03 design study.
The coach built Corvette was presented in the flesh at last year's 2011 Top Marques car show in Monaco, with Soleil planning to produce a total of 300 cars priced at US$299,995 a piece.
Now, Sahin has provided Carscoop with details about his newest project for a two-door, front-engined Alfa Romeo sports car named the C12 GTS Concept.
Through his company Ugur Sahin Design (USD), the young designer says he is actively looking for investors and parties who want to be involved in the project and build a production version of the sports coupe.
If you scroll down, you will find Sahin's description of the Alfa Romeo C12 GTS Concept as well as photos and a video of the design study.

From Ugur Sahin:
"The main goal of this design is to reinterpret Alfa Romeo’s historical lines, surfaces and styling cues with fresh perspective and state of mind in order to create an appealing design and combining the familiar design language of Alfa Romeo combined with sharper lines and surfaces without losing the organic attractiveness of the car.
One of the main features of the design is the way its stance is shaped. As a whole it gives you the impression of “forward-movement” even while standing still. The iconic Alfa Romeo Grille hosts the center of the organic lines which flow towards the back and around the car with minimum distraction and maximum visual impact. The way the front is designed consists of two different shape compositions to make the face of the car sporty and aggressive, yet so appealing.
The side silhouette creates a balanced front-to-back ratio that grabs your attention with proper proportional balance and the perfectly straight line that divides the upper and the lower parts of the car seamlessly wraps around the back making the car look as a whole.”
Currently we are actively looking for investors and parties who want to be involved in the project in order to build an exclusive car which is destined to give its owner the ultimate feeling of powerful design and driving experience."

Modern-Day Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA

If the Porsche 911 is the model that even its creators couldn't kill, then Alfa Romeo is surely its brand equivalent in the automotive world. It’s not that Fiat's management didn’t try (willingly or not), but in a peculiar way, Alfa (unlike Saab, for instance) always made a comeback. Maybe it's the Italian flair that makes you forget sins of the past or the niggles of its current portfolio (Brera seating position, anyone?), but the Alfisti remain faithful to their beloved brand.
One such Alfa Romeo enthusiasts is independent French designer Vincent Montreuil. He may not be Italian, but then again, no one ever said that Alfas were adored only in their home country.
While the Americans are still waiting for the company to stay true to its promise and eventually return to the U.S., Vincent created some pretty convincing renderings of a 21st century Alfa Romeo coupe.
It's a modern day, front-engined, rear-wheel drive iteration of the legendary Giulia GTA of the 1960’s that he made during his last year in arts school.
Just as GTA stood for Gran Turismo Alleggerita (lightweight), messieurs' Montreuil Giulia was conceived, in his own words, as a “sport and light coupe concept". And if it was his call, he would make it really light, only 800 kg (just shy of 1,800 pounds) and give it a 200HP engine.
Now, we know that Alfa is already working on the (mid-engined) 4C and that the Giulia name is earmarked for the (unfashionably late) 159 replacement.
This does not detract from Vincent’s work one bit though. Besides, we wouldn’t bet against the Italians changing the new sedan’s name at the last moment. Either way, feel free to visit his website and perhaps leave your comments.
